Day 4

Since I'm starting back on Weight Watchers, I thought I would share some of my favorite "low point" munchies thanks to either advice from friends or Pinterest.

First, the "Popeye" smoothie.  As I've mentioned in previous posts, I am a HORRIBLE veggie eater.  A few weeks ago, a friend/co-worker brought a "green" smoothie in for lunch.  Of course, my first reaction was......"Are you crazy?  What in the heck are you drinking?" because it looks pretty gross.  But, she let me taste it and I was surprised at how good it tasted.  I made a batch yesterday & it ended up making about 3 servings in the regular sized Tervis Tumbler.

The recipe that I used is as follows, but there are TONS of different ones on Pinterest.  Just search for "Green Smoothie".  Depending on what type of yogurt you use, the smoothie is from 2-3 WW points per serving and it is VERY filling too.

Popeye Smoothie

2 cups of baby spinach
1 sliced banana
1 cup sliced strawberries
1 sliced apple
1/2 orange of 1/2 c. orange juice
1 cup vanilla yogurt (I used greek yogurt b/c of extra protein)
Handful of ice

Buffalo Wing Pretzel Crisps and Laughing Cow Light Blue Cheese wedges are one of my new favorite snacks.  The friend that introduced this yummy snack described it as "life changing" and I must say......she was right.  It's 4 points for 10 pretzels and 1 wedge.  It seriously tastes like you're eating buffalo wings and blue cheese dressing.  There are lots of different flavors of the laughing cow cheese & they are only 1 point per wedge.  There are also several different flavors of the Pretzel Crisps too......but the Buffalo/Blue Cheese combination is my favorite.

One of my FAVORITE candies is Sour Patch kids.  A serving is only 4 points, which isn't TOO terribly bad.....but they're packed with sodium and sugar.  I learned about "Sour Patch Grapes" on Pinterest and made a batch last night.  All you do is rinse the grapes with water, put them in a large ziploc bag with a packet of your favorite flavor sugar-free jello.  I chose melon, but Strawberry, etc. would be yummy too.  Shake the bag until they are covered with the jello---let chill in the fridge for an hour or so.  You get the taste of Sour Patch candy with 0 points!

As I try out more low point value recipes, I will continue to share on my blog.  Making better snack choices is one more tool that is going to help get me to my weight loss goal..........In addition to always remembering.......Everything 4:13!
