Matthew had a few friends come over today for a small birthday party, so of course that involved FOOD! Yes, I splurged & enjoyed a little cake, a few cheese puffs, some pigs in a blanket, a slice of cheese pizza, AND chips & dip (yikes that sounds bad doesn't it) BUT I kept it under control........Thank goodness! I logged onto the WW Points tracker after everyone left prepared to "beat myself up" for so-called "cheating". After I entered EVERYTHING (I was VERY honest) I ate, I was surprised that I still had some "weekly points" remaining after my splurge. Whew! That's the thing I like about the new Weight Watchers 360 Plan, is it's built around human nature and the fact that NOBODY is perfect. Here's a link with more info about the new Weight Watchers 360 plan.
The new "360" part of the plan focuses on using "real life" strategies to help you stay on track with the plan. I woke up this morning knowing that I would have a hard time today since I KNEW lots of food would be around. So I did a few things to help me stay focused: 1.) I went for a walk this morning......burned 250+ calories 2.) I drank LOTS of water before & after the party 3.) I fixed a green smoothie right before the party so that I wasn't STARVING to keep me from binging (recipe is below) 4.) I put all the food away/out of sight once everybody left.......out of sight, out of mind!
Burple Green Smoothie
1/2 cup POM juice
1 cup blueberries
1 sliced banana
1 scoop Vanilla soy protein powder (could also use vanilla yogurt)
1 cup water
1 cup spinach
6 PointsPlus (& very tasty too)
Since I started this blog, I also have found myself reciting Phillipians 4:13 in my head when I'm faced with a difficult food choice. Doing this is helping me stay focused, in control, and it also helps me remember...........Everything 4:13!
